Sport Fund Recipient Spotlight:

Guysborough United Soccer Club

When the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex opened a field in June 2018, the Guysborough Country Soccer Club decided it was an opportune time to launch a new program. With the help of Sport Fund, the club was able to offer reduced start-up costs and proper training for their recreation program coaches.

“Sport Fund has helped our organization by ensuring our players had coaches with immediate training (Active Start and Fundamental Coaching training). The Sport Fund also helped our organization keep the initial sign-up fees at a lower rate to ensure our program was accessible to more players in Guysborough County” said Municipality of the District of Guysbrough Recreation Programmer and Facility Manager, Christina Bowie. Currently the club has 30 athletes and they plan to increase their registration next year by offering teams in a broader range of age groups.

Sport Fund supports the growth of sport at the community level by relieving the financial stress associated with start-up costs and equipment. To learn more about how Sport Fund can help your organization, click here.
