January's Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month winners

Weightlifter, female hockey phenom, football star, and a synchronized skating team win Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month honours

HALIFAX, NS (February 22, 2017) – January’s Cleve’s Source for Sports Female Individual Athlete of the Month honours have been awarded to 17 year-old Kirsten Angus of Bedford. The weightlifter recently competed at the Canadian Junior Weightlifting Championships in Brossard, Quebec where she had a bronze medal performance in the 69kg category. The result marked the first national medal in weightlifting by Nova Scotia in over 20 years.  READ MORE

Softball Canada selects Smith as High Performance Director / Head Coach

After an eight-year hiatus, the sport of softball has returned to the Olympic programme. In preparation for Canada’s showing in 2020, Softball Canada has selected Mark Smith as High Performance Director / Head Coach. Under Mark’s leadership, the Canadian women's national softball team is currently ranked third in the world and, over the next four years, their goal is to be #1. READ MORE

Sailors Lewin-LaFrance and Gillis named

December’s Sport Chek Team of the Month

HALIFAX, NS (January 16, 2017) – Georgia Lewin-LaFrance and Madeline Gillis of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron have been named December’s Sport Chek Team of Month. The sailors had a strong showing at the World Youth Sailing Championships in Auckland, New Zealand where they placed 12th overall in the I420 class; a Canadian best in this class at the Youth Worlds. Lewin-LaFrance and Gillis were named to the Canadian team after winning the National Championships in August.  READ MORE
