Sport Nova Scotia works closely with the Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic (CSIA), the Provincial Government Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage (CCTH), Coaching NS, and the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation to effectively allocate funding, administer support, and execute quality programming.
The Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic (CSIA)
implements programs that have helped build Atlantic Canada’s high-performance sport structure, ultimately leading to sizeable representation at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. CSIA is part of a cross-country network of experts who specialize in nutrition, mental health, strength and conditioning, coaching support, and sport science to prime a successful sport system.
The Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage
Sport Consultants from the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage (CCTH) work with Sport Nova Scotia’s provincial sport organization members to provide assistance with sport system navigation, progress and monitoring of annual outcomes, eligibility requirements, and project development. The consultants (along with staff from Sport Nova Scotia and Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic) are also part of the sport development team that provides input about the Sport Development Tool to determine provincial sport organization funding.
The Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation’s Support4Sport (S4S) program helps develop community and provincial sport through the sale of designated lottery products. S4S raises money for training and development opportunities for athletes, coaches, and officials throughout Nova Scotia. Since 2006, Sport Nova Scotia has allocated $42 million to amateur sport through S4S funding.
