February 28, 2024 (Halifax, NS)- Cleve’s Source for Sports January Athlete of the Month Recipients Announced
Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce the 2024 Cleve’s Source for Sports February Athlete of the Month recipients; Jacob Cote (Jr. Male), Tarah Sawler (Sr. Female), and Rowan Durning (Sr. Male).
Jacob Cote: 18-year-old Figure Skating athlete from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Recent Achievements: Jacob recently competed at the Skate Canada National Championships in Calgary, Alberta, last month. He finished 15th in the Junior Men’s category with 120.76 points. Jacobs adds this accomplishment to his many others, including being the Nova Scotia Junior Men’s Champion.
Tarah Sawler: 25-year-old Goalball athlete from Halifax, Nova Scotia
Recent Achievements: Tarah recently won a silver medal as part of Team Nova Scotia at the Annual Montreal Open Goalball tournament last month. She scored ten goals throughout the tournament, ranking her fourth among female goal scorers. With her performance at the tournament, Tarah has been invited to attend tryouts for the Canadian Women’s Goalball Team.
Rowan Durning: 17-year-old Freestyle Ski athlete from Great Village, Nova Scotia
Recent Achievements: Rowan recently competed at the 2023/2024 Canada Cup in Sun Peaks Resort, British Columbia, last month. He had a personal best finish in the competition, placing 2nd in Big Air and 3rd in Slopestyle out of 85 competitors in the events. Rowan’s performance at this event places him higher in the overall Big Air standings and will help his placement for the NorAm Tour, in the United States, later this year.
