February 27, 2026 (Halifax, NS) – Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce that the February Cleve’s Source for Sports Impact Award recipients are Marcus Hannam (male athlete) and Michael Penny (coach).
Male Athlete: Marcus Hannam, Curling
Achievements: Marcus is the second on Team Lockhart, a U18 men’s competitive curling team out of Berwick, Nova Scotia. Team Lockhart won the Nova Scotia U18 Provincial Championship late last year and in January took silver in the men’s U20 Provincial Championship. This month the team represented Nova Scotia at the 2026 Under-18 Canadian Championships in Ontario and will soon head back to the province for the 2026 New Holland Canadian Under-20 Curling Championships.
Coach: Michael Penny, Hockey
Achievements: Michael is the head coach of the Northside Vikings U15-AA boy’s hockey team, based in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. By leading with encouragement, positivity and respect, he builds confidence and resilience in his players, helping them grow on and off the ice. As a coach Michael champions that success isn’t only measured in wins, but in character, effort and learning.
