January 30, 2026 (Halifax, NS) – Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce that the January Cleve’s Source for Sports Impact Award recipients are Ashleigh Myles (female athlete), Carol Ann Sweeney (coach) and Adam Talbot Tory (volunteer).
Female Athlete: Ashleigh Myles, Cycling
Achievements: On December 20, 2025, Ashleigh Myles set the record for the fastest female to bike the Pan-American Highway, which spans from the top of Alaska to the bottom of Argentina. This journey took 118 days, 2 hours and 30 minutes, with 22,511 km travelled and 187,463 m in elevation climbed.
Coach: Carol Ann Sweeney, Athletics
Achievements: Carol Ann Sweeney is the heart and soul of Grit Athletics Dartmouth’s U8–U12 program. Under her guidance the program has grown to over fifty athletes, creating one of the strongest and most vibrant youth groups in the club’s history. Her sessions are fun, structured and purposeful, giving young athletes the foundation they need to grow not only as athletes, but as confident and motivated individuals. Carol Ann knows each child’s strengths and challenges and is deeply committed to their development.
Volunteer: Adam Talbot Tory, Surfing
Achievements: In December, Adam Talbot Tory made a significant impact as president of the Surfing Association of Nova Scotia by leading critical organizational effectiveness work to strengthen governance, equity and safety within Nova Scotia’s amateur surfing system. This work included embedding gender equity principles, enhancing athlete, coach and board member safety frameworks and improving clarity and consistency across governance documentation. This work that Adam has advanced contributes to the long-term sustainability and credibility of surfing as a recognized provincial sport in Nova Scotia.
