January 25, 2024 (Halifax, NS)- Cleve’s Source for Sports January Athlete of the Month Recipients Announced
Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce the 2024 Cleve’s Source for Sports January Athlete of the Month recipients; Julie Nolan-McCarthy (Jr. Female), and Jacob Cote (Jr. Male).
Julie Nolan-McCarthy: 16-year-old Swimming athlete from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Recent Achievement: Julie recently competed at the 2023 Ontario Junior International Swim Meet in Toronto last month. With 60 competitors in her event, she finished 7th in the 200m breaststroke and 10th in the 100m breaststroke. She set new Nova Scotian records in her age group for the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke. Julie adds this to her list of accomplishments as a nationally qualified swimmer who earned multiple medals at last year’s Eastern Canadian Championships.
Jacob Cote: 18-year-old Figure Skating athlete from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Recent Achievements: Jacob recently competed at the Skate Canada Challenge in Winnipeg, Manitoba, last month. He finished 17th with 125.51 points in the competition. With his results in the Skate Canada Challenge, Jacob has qualified to compete at the upcoming National Championships in Calgary.

• The Athlete of the Month program is administered by Sport Nova Scotia, whose members are eligible to nominate athletes for the awards.
• A membership committee selects the award recipients for five possible categories: Male Individual Athlete, Female Individual Athlete, Male Team Athlete, Female Team Athlete, and Team.
