Cleve’s Source for Sports Impact Awards March 2026

March 31, 2026 (Halifax, NS) – Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce that the March Cleve’s Source for Sports Impact Award recipients are Emmi German (female athlete), Ryan O’Neil (male athlete), San Fung (coach) and Cary Hollett (volunteer).

Female Athlete: Emmi German, Karate

Achievements: Emmi German competed at the 2026 U21 and Senior Nationals held in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 20 to 22, 2026. She competed in the U21 -50 Kg Female Kumite division and the Senior -50 Kg Division. This was her first year competing in both events. She secured gold in the U21 event, and silver in the Senior event. With these wins she has qualified to represent Canada at the 2026 Pan American Senior and Under 21 Karate Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this coming May.

Male Athlete: Ryan O’Neil, Karate

Achievements: Ryan competed at the 2026 U21 and Senior Karate Canada Nationals held in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 20 to 22, 2026. Ryan secured silver in the Senior -75 Kg Male Kumite division, thus qualifying him for the 2026 Pan American Senior and Under 21 Karate Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this coming May.

Coach: San Fung, Karate

Achievements: San was one of the lead coaches for the Karate Nova Scotia team at the 2026 U21 and Senior Karate Canada Nationals held in Halifax, Nova Scotia this past February. Karate Nova Scotia sent 12 athletes and came home with six medals. Coach Fung personally coached three of these athletes, who then qualified to represent Canada at the 2026 Pan American Senior and Under 21 Karate Championships.

Coach: Cary Hollett, Karate

Achievements: Cary was an instrumental volunteer at the 2026 U21 and Senior Nationals held in Halifax, Nova Scotia this past February. Cary managed a group of 40 volunteers that helped with scorekeeping and ensured the tournament ran smoothly. The incredible success of the national championships, which hosted 230 athletes from across Canada, was thanks in part to the hard work Cary put in.
