Cleve’s Source for Sports Impact Awards October

October 28, 2024 (Halifax, NS) – Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce the 2024 Cleve’s Source for Sports October Impact Award Recipients: Sam Meehan (Female Athlete), Dr. Sarah Moore (Coach), and Natasha Handerek (Volunteer).  

Female Athlete: Sam Meehan, Archery Nova Scotia  

Achievements: This month, Sam received her distinction of becoming a Canadian National record holder from her performance at the Archery Canada Nationals in Fredericton, New Brunswick in August. Picking up archery in 2018, Sam has accomplished so much personally and for the sport itself. Her score of 520 in the Women’s 50+ Barebow event set a new Canadian record in the Women’s 21+ and 50+ categories.  

Coach: Dr. Sarah Moore, Easter Seals Nova Scotia 

Achievements: Dr. Sarah Moore is a dedicated coach to Easter Seals ‘Learn to Programs’ which encompasses Sledge, Wheelchair Basketball, Dance, and Power Soccer. Dr. Moore’s passion, knowledge, patience, and kindness have helped Easter Seals participants grow and gain confidence, with some competing nationally. Her commitment to inclusive sport has allowed Easter Seals to develop their programs while fostering an environment of acceptance, positive experiences, and friendships. Her positive impact can be felt by all who play a part in Easter Seals, from parents and participants to employees and volunteers.  

Volunteer: Natasha Handerek, Dartmouth Arrows & Dartmouth She Devils  

Achievements: Natasha served as the manager for the Dartmouth She Devils 13U AA softball team and the Dartmouth Arrows 11U AAA baseball club while organizing the 13U AA Eastern Canadian Softball Championship and the 11U AAA Baseball Atlantics Championship, two of the largest events held in Dartmouth last summer. She is a driving force behind the scenes for an often-forgotten part of amateur sport. The Dartmouth baseball community is fortunate to have her as a critical part of their success. 

Sport Nova Scotia is a voice for amateur sport that promotes the benefits of health, personal development and achievement of all participants. Sport Nova Scotia is a non-profit, non-government organization representing approximately 60 provincial sport organizations and more than 160,000 member Nova Scotians.
