Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month February 2022

February 18, 2022- Halifax, NS – Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month Recipients Announced

Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce the February 2022 Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month recipients; Alysha Corrigan, Julie Nolan-McCarthy, and Alexander Bouchard.

Alysha Corrigan. 25-year-old Rugby player from Halifax.

Recent outstanding achievements: Alysha made her International HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series debut with Team Canada in Magma, Spain where she scored against England in her first game. Corrigan will now head to the world 7 series. When not scoring goals for Team Canada she is also a player for Saracens Rugby in the UK.

Julie Nolan-McCarthy. 14-year-old swimmer with the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club (HTAC).

Recent outstanding achievements: At the Candy Cane Invitational Julie set a new Nova Scotia Provincial record for the women’s (13-14) 200m Breaststroke and an HTAC record in the women’s 200m Breaststroke. She placed 1st in the 100m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke, 200m Individual, Medley, 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle.

Julie qualified to compete in the Eastern Canadian Swimming Championships in April for the women’s 200m Individual Medley.

Alexander Bouchard. 14-year-old swimmer with the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club (HTAC).

Recent outstanding achievements: At the Candy Cane Invitations, Alexander placed 1st in 100m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley, 200m Butterfly and 200m Backstroke. Alexander set new HTAC records in the men’s 100m Backstroke and qualified to compete in Eastern Canadian Swimming Championships for the men’s 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke & 200m Individual Medley.

Athlete of the Month

  • The Athlete of the Month program is administered by Sport Nova Scotia, whose members are eligible to nominate athletes for the awards.
  • A membership committee selects the award recipients for five possible categories: Male Individual Athlete, Female Individual Athlete, Male Team Athlete, Female Team Athlete, and Team.
