June 15, 2022- Halifax, NS – Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month Recipients Announced
Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce the July 2022 Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month recipients; Siona Chisholm (jr. female), Ilya Lenco (jr. male), David Bambrick (sr. male).
Siona Chisholm. 18- year-old track and field athlete from Antigonish.
Recent achievements: In June, Siona competed nationally at the Bell Canadian T&F Championships in Langley, BC. Against 14 competitors, she set a Nova Scotian record placing first in the U20 3000m with a time of 9:17.77, and placed first in U20 5000m with a time of 16:32.01. This qualifies Sonia to compete in August at the World U20 Track and Field Championships in Cali, Columbia and to join Team Canada at the 2022 U20 World T&F Championships.
Ilya Lenco. 14- year-old taekwondo athlete from Maryvale.
Recent achievements: Last month, Ilya competed at both the 2022 Pan American Championships, and the Pan American Series II (12–14-year-old division) in San Jose, Costa Rica. At the Pan American Championships, he defeated Brazil in the Semi Finals, then lost a close final to the USA in the championship round earning a silver medal. In the Pan American Series II open event, Ilya won against Costa Rica capturing a gold medal.
David Bambrick. 38- year-old para-athlete from Wolfville.
Recent achievements: Last month, David competed at the Bell Canadian Track and Field Championships in Langley, BC. He placed first in para shot put with a throw of 10.63m, and won a silver medal in para discus with a throw of 31.48m.

- The Athlete of the Month program is administered by Sport Nova Scotia, whose members are eligible to nominate athletes for the awards.
- A membership committee selects the award recipients for five possible categories: Male Individual Athlete, Female Individual Athlete, Male Team Athlete, Female Team Athlete, and Team.
